Mr. B was my staff at Secure Detention. I was only 15 and felt like my life was over. Mr.B did not judge me nor did he scold me, he treated me like everyone else. He never restrained me when I had meltdowns, he always talked to me and encouraged me to use better coping skills. Even when I was leaving for Brookwood, he prayed for me. I will never forget about Mr. B. 17 years later at the Schenectady library, I see him and gave him the biggest hug.

Marvin was an asset to our unit and the agency, he definitely brought his NYC swag with him and the youth in custody immediately drew to him. Marvin taught in class and often helped youth cope with the possibility of long periods of incarceration and prison time. Mr. Breedlove was more than a Corrections Supervisor, he was respected by staff and the youth in care. When Mr. Breedlove left to go back to NY, we were sad but he left a lasting impression and taught us ways to deal with difficult youth and it still works 10 years later. Because of Marvin, we implemented a new system of behavior modules and therapeutic interventions rather than punitive.

I wanted to thank Marvin for helping our son. He has been going through a lot with his disability and trauma from being fostered and adopted. He was in constant contact with me on different things to help him. He wanted to help, no matter what. He was great with our son. He was the only person he spoke to from the beginning. He was very consistent with coming to see our son. He didn't cancel unless he absolutely needed to. He was very respectful and appreciative of us as our sons parents. We will miss him and so will our son.
